Tiny Desk AI photo guide

A clear portrait gives the model useful details. Prepare a separate photo for each performer rather than uploading a collage.
One visible adult in each photo
Choose a recent photo facing the camera, with the eyes visible and a relaxed expression. Avoid sunglasses, masks, hands over the mouth and heavy filters.
If you start with a group photo, crop a separate portrait for each person with their permission. Do not place two views of the same person in one reference image.
Leave room around the face
Keep the whole head and shoulders visible. Very tight crops and a strong wide-angle perspective make movement harder to preserve.
The default output is 9:16. A portrait photo is a useful starting point, but do not stretch it to fit the video frame.
Check the file and consent
Use JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB per photo. Convert unsupported formats before uploading; changing a filename does not convert an image.
Use your own portrait or obtain the adult subject’s permission. Portraits of minors, celebrities and public figures are not allowed. Read the privacy policy for our storage periods and the separate upstream retention information.
